Hi,

My 3 week old GTI is showing this high idle two or three times a week. When I come to a stop the revs don't drop back to the normal 800 (warm), instead they sit at anything from 1000 to 1300. If I blip the throttle they then drop back down to normal.

No errors are being logged so the dealer is unsure what to do until it does :-(

Anyone have this problem before ?. Seems to have similar symptoms to a throttle position sensor fault....hoping they will replace this anyway..

Is it when the engine is cold ?

My current car (non golf) keeps the revs a bit higher until warmed up (fires the catalyst up, and therefore reduces emissions, quicker)

No, the car is warm when it does this. I'll be in traffic and it'll be fine at one set of traffic lights, then do this at the next set...very strange. It feels like it's lost where normal idle is...if I blip the throttle to about 1800-2000 rpm it fixes it until the next time...which could be anything from a few hours to a few days

It seems to be a TPS problem. If you go to the dealer service, using the scanner they will find the cause.
