Hi All,
First post so please be gentle...
I've got a 2005 (55 plate) Passat B6 2.0 Sport which has been great so far and done 43,000 miles. Bought at 6 months old from my local VW dealer and always serviced there. About three weeks ago I started to get a rattle from the exhaust so I took it in for them to do a "diagnostic" on, they came back and said that both catalytic converters needed to be replaced as the rear had "broken up", the cooling fans weren't working and their was an oil and coolant leak from the oil cooler. Together with a cam-belt change, an air-con service and a few other bits and pieces they wanted £2,700. The mechanic suggested I speak with VW customer services and after some to-ing and fro-ing they've agreed to fund 50% of the cost of the cats, cooling fans and oil cooler (about £1100 in all) as "goodwill". Do other members know if this is reasonable? Should I say thanks very much and take their offer or press for more?
Thanks in advance, and I promise not all my posts will be so long!
