Hi guys I have a 2006 2.0t it has been mapped to about 240BHP and goes great however when the engine is cold ie first thing in the morning it is very jerky and the idle seems to bounce on the very odd occasion however runs ok when fully warmed up ? The problem does seem much improved if I run of 99+ ron fuel.
The car is coming up to a service where the plugs are due to be changed so this might be the problem but I just wondering what other possible problems it could be ?

i always run the car on super unleaded 98/99 ron, the benifits to the engine far out-weigh the extra £3 approx u pay per a tank.

Could well be the spark plugs as you've noticed a improvment with better quality fuel.

The 2.0TFSi NEEDS 98 RON or higher fuel, please, please run it on proper fuel, especially if you have had it remapped.

Ye I realised that very shortly after the map was done and noticed an improvement however it has not compltly resolved the problem.
Its nothing serious just alittle annoying really !

Does it actually NEED V-Power to run?? My mum just picked hers up from the dealer on Monday and he never once said about needing to run it on V-Power. I've got an Evo V, and when I picked it up the importer reminded me that it needed V-Power because it was mapped for 100 RON Japanese fuel.

It's currently got V-Power in it because the dealer said they would give a full tank, but was almost empty when collecting it. When bringing this up he gave us his card and told us to go to the local Shell and charge it to them, so seeing as it was free we decided to fill up with V-Power, however normally my mum would use any 95 RON fuel.

V power is Shell's only brand of high quality petrol, which has other added benifits. other stations have "super unleaded" etc i use shell v power. IF YOU HAVE A NICE CAR, FEED IT WITH NICE FUEL.....................

I think it depends if your mum is focused on the performance of the car, which im guessing she might be as she has bought a 2.0T instead of a lighter less powerful engine or diesel so treat it right. Obviously the car will run on 95 RON, i guess it all depends on the driver.

V-Power is also 99 RON, normal super unleaded is only 97 RON (apart from Tesco 99 obv), and it's not obvious the car will run on 95 RON mate, my Evo won't because the map is too aggressive for 95 RON, it causes too much knocking and therefor the ECU retards the timing BIG TIME because it's been mapped for 100 RON fuel in Japan.

Obv knocking is also bad for the engine, so does the A4 2.0T FSI NEED V-Power (like the Evo) or is it just recommended? Obv all cars will benifit from higher octane fuel because the ECU can advance the timing with less chance of knocking.

My mum never bought it for performance, all she wanted was a saloon with 4WD that's petrol (she doesn't like diesel), because here RWD merc was terrible in winter, so I recommended the A4 to her.
