i got a 1.8turbo for my 17th b-day and i love to drive it but there is a couple of problems
1. this is hard to discribe when i accelerate i can hear the turbo kicking in but there is no power going to the road for the first 3-4 seconds and then there is a burst of power it doesn't happen all the time but it is starting to make me worry
2. this is a minor problem when i reverse the reverse light starts to flicker i was wondering if this was a bad earth or a electrical problem
3. does anyone know where to get cheaper insurance lol
thanks for your help

The reverse light switch is probably faulty which is very cheap and easy to do as it is located right on top of the selector but it may also be a partly broken wire to the switch which happens a lot. As for the engine power delivery problem, you need to have a fault code read done to see what is stored, have those codes printed off and then cleared. Drive the car again for a few days and then have the codes read again. As long as you have not touched anything in the engine bay, any codes that have returned can be trusted and acted upon.

As for insurance, forget the price comparison sites lol, they all seem to give different prices compared to when i did them individually
I had a bmw 318i when i was 18 and found that tesco were the cheapest at the time, and ringing up helps too because internet-based quotes rely on a lot of set assumptions which can make the price higher.
Now i'm with swift cover. its all about spending hour after hour ringing and shopping around really :) and another unknown tip... if you add someone old and sensible as a named driver, it can sometimes bring your quote down despite you being the main driver of the vehicle ;)
Best of luck!

Yep, add your parents or something, so long as they're in the same household it should bring your insurance down.
Make sure that you are the main driver and that the policy is in your name.

Forget your consumption, if you are struggling with insurance costs now then you can definitely forget trying to insure a remapped car at 17.
