Hi everyone,

Having had no problems for a while with my Oct 2006 Passat 2.0 SE diesel saloon, went out this morning and absolutely zilch from the audio system ie does not power on, nothing displayed on the screen, silent as the grave etc. It was working yesterday though.

Its the 6 disc type (RD500?) which is standard for the 2.0 SE.

I have checked all the fuses under the bonnet (which is where the manual shows the single radio fuse to be). All are intact and functioning.

Question - are there further fuses in the dashboard end fuse boxes which support the radio/CD? The manual indicates not - but there again my manual doesn't list about half the fuses which are actually in the under bonnet fuse box!:D

Grateful for any advice or suggestions.

Thank you

Giles

Hi Giles,

I had a similar problem with my radio.

Unfortunately my radio was completely kaput and VW replaced it under warrenty.

The best thing to do is to remove the radio (by pulling off the surround, then undoing the 4 torx screws). Disconect the wiring harness and check there is power on it.

if there's power then it is likely that the radio unit is bust. if there is no power then it could be a fuse or damaged cable.

there are fuse boxes inside the car on the driver and passenger side. I'm not sure what number or position the fuse is.

good luck.

I don't think there are any radio fuses apart from the engine compartment one. (fuse 19 I think)
