As anybody else noticed their cars pinking lately?
tried Shell /BP/Total fuels and all pink
it will stop if i use 98 octane
both my cars and 3 others pink on 95 octane and they are designed to run on it and the timings etc are spot on!
WHAT HAVE THE FUEL COMPANIES DONE?

You can’t get 98RON in the UK that I have seen, only 97 or 99. What is the car?

ADZ, min RON 95, really should be run on 97/98/99, AEB should be OK on 95 RON only but I find they don’t like it sometimes as they age, AGU 95 RON min again but preferably 97/98/99 and the same for and ADY or AGG. No idea about the Fiesta. The wife’s car (89 PB GTI 1900 conversion) rattles on 95 so I make her use Tesco 99, mine hates 95 (03 Octavia VRS) but it is mapped to 210PS so I ONLY ever use V Power, strictly nothing else.

ive only noticed this in the last couple of months
nothings changed with cars only 1000 mls extra
drive them the same
similar journeys
just they have started to pink slightly and thought it may be fuel related and as we pay over the odds for fuel have fuel companies changed the brew?

In the attached .pdf file for you to download are two data sheets for petrol.

Petrol has undergone a recent change in its chemical makeup at the refinerys, basically it now has less hydrocarbons.

the ist sheet in the pdf is the basic no frills 95 octane unleaded. Regardless from where you purchase your fuel, it all has to be refined and manufactured to within certain government standards.

there is something added to the fuel for the winter seasons to eneble the fuel to start better in the cold, this is not added for warmer months.

The main difference between the two sheets is the ethanol content.
