I've had issues with the door window of my A3. It wouldn't go up, it was trying but kept getting stuck and pulling itself back down, so the motor was working. I got some WD40 in there and that loosened it up, but now a week later it's playing up again. It looks to me like it's because the seal on it is dry and it's clinging to the glass, but is there any way to fix this other than keep on chucking WD40 at it? Cheers.

I had that problem with mine.

The cable in the window lifting mechanism got tangled.

To fit a new one required the old one being drilled out of the door and a new one riveted in.

Thanks for the reply. Any idea how much I'd be looking at to get it fixed?

Try a silicone spray lube.

I didn't have the time/resources to do it myself it was also urgent that I got it repaired as the window had fell into the door and it was the middle of winter!!

In my case the whole mechanism was knackered. So a new one was needed.

On the receipt it says the cost of the item was 67.91

Not sure about the labour because I had a few other jobs done at the same time.

If you do decide to do it yourself let me know and I'll mail across the instructions.

This happened to both my windows. See instructions at this webpage ;

Cost less than £5 for the broken part. Easy enough to fix.
