Hi
Got car back from garage after having drain holes cleared. Thing is, it still get's wet in driver's footwell after rain, especially around the small plastic/rubber mat.

The guy at the garage said there was hardly any dirt to be cleared but said if i was still having problems he may have to get the driver's carpet up to have a proper look at it.

Can anyone tell me how the carpet is taken up as i might have a go myself if its not too difficult?

Thanks very much

I had a hell of a time sorting my carpet out. I took of the trim along the door sill and then the plastic trim which the bonnet release lever attaches to. Next i took of the plastic footrest next to the clutch paddle. Next i took of the plastic panels below the steering wheel so i could see how far the carpet went up behind the foot paddles. The sound deadening under lay carpet is fitted up around the steering column and the bulk head. It is kept in place by black plastic discs which screw onto small threaded rods which are welded onto the body of the car. To be honest i had to cut the sound deadening material to get it pulled back as it goes way up behind the dash. This let me pull the carpet and under lay back to expose the bare metal floor of the drivers foot well. The underlay was soaked and it was realy thick and needed to be exposed to get it dry. I stuffed old newspapers in under it an changed them as soon as they where soaked. I also used a vax to suck up most of the water. I then put i a small dehumidifier for three days to get the last of the damp out. I then fitted back the underlay and carpet and all was ok. Sorry for the long reply but it was a brut of a job.:beerchug:
