hi just a quickie...... i have been having trouble getting me remote fob to work on my 1998 passat and am wondering if there is a way to find out weather i have the right remote for the car as it is the only onei got with the car?
also the alarm horn does not sound when alarm goes off but the hazzards flash as they normally would.... are these problems connected? only fault codes in vag-com are inplausable signal to rear left door intermittant.... what ever that means?
help very welcome
thanks

If you prise the two halves of the remotw apart, it has the frequency listed there.

Chances are yours will be a 433Hmhz fob. Mines a 1999 1.8 sat, and its 433Mhz. 434Mhz i think only really started coming in on the next model up...

Black magic....If vag-com reports a fault at one of the doors you will have problems with central locking because the ccm will be unsure if the doors are locked or not. You could have a faulty rear door lock but check the wires to the back door where they go from the B post into the door. There is a connector somewhere there that can work loose.

yeah i checked the plugs , but did have to do some re-wiring to ccm as the wires had all fused together in footwell when i got car but tried different ccm's and still the same all doors do lock with key just remote will not, i cant seem to get it to programme what so ever, as for the alarm horn not working just wondered if all these problems might be connected in some way (hopefully something easy that im missing lol)
thanks

hi there just to say that horn not sounding is unlikey to be related as this simply requires some minor changes made using vcds which will then enable the beep noise when alarm is armed.
