Hi I curently own a 2005 ST TDCI mondeo, which I have to say is an awsome car, it goes like no diesel ive ever been in, and will give alot of the quick petrols a run for there money due to putting out 400nm off torque at just 1800 rpm. But after owning it for a year just seems there is a reason downside to the way they go. And the use of cheep parts, that costs a fortune to replace by the way. Im just getting dishartened with the old girl, gutted to be getting rid of her, but after a replacement of all 4 injectors (@ £300 a piece fitted) its just got to be done really.
So Have been looking into trading her in for a 2004/2005 AUDI A4 1.8T 20v 190 s-line saloon next year.
Sorry for running on, but just would like to ask you guys of your apinions of the Audi 1.8T.
Sort of what they are like to run and reliability of them?
I've owned a seat lean 110 se TDI and the realiability was second to none. couldn't fault it apart from the interior. ewwww. lol
your help guys would be greatly apreciated :beerchug:
Thanks
Chris

two main things I need to pick up on.
the first being that a 1.8t will drive nothing like a diesel. I'd say to get in one and test drive, you may hate the (in comparison) lack of torque the 1.8t offers. You'll see a drop in mpg too.
second point is re the leon interior, which is actually a good quality interior, it concerns me that you're saying that, having driven a mondeo. Fords are solid cars, but their interior plastics are, well, below the par imho.
You'll not go wrong with an A4, your comments just confused me slightly.

Nothing to do with the quality of it. As far as i know the interior was borrowed from the earlier A3's, its just the look of the interior was my only down point of the SEAT. apart from that there was absolutly no complaints. brilliant motor.
Im not just looking at changing this with my eyes closed. Iv'e owned and driven all sorts of motors from a micra to a proper prepared rally car, so i know how torque delivery will change from engine to engine and from derv to petrol.
Just fancy a change, and to get away from the rataly old diesels. good on the wallet but why run my mondeo that is gonna cost me the earth to keep going when i might as well spend less on petrol, if you get my drift...
sorry if i was confusing!
