Can anyone code a key fob for me in the Wolverhampton area?
I have a spare key for my audi which has never been used and the battery in it had died.
I can use the key to open the car manually and can drive the car with the key..
I changed the battery yesterday and tried the remote locking buttons but nothing worked, I tried the 'key setup' procedure in the audi manual and other procedures i found on the net but nothing has worked. I popped in to audi at lunch time and they said they can do it for about £50!!
Is there anyone out there who knows how to do this (hoping for free or minimal fee), or is it only Audi who can do this?
My audi is a B7 55 plate.
Thanks guys!

You can DIY.
Edit: Apologies - you've tried that.
Try it again and it's a warranty claim if it doesn't work. If it's out of warranty they should sort it FOC anyway imo.

audi a4 lover - Yep, i can use the key to drive the vehicle and manually open the doors, just the remote locking that does not work!
m3 compact - i went to audi and they said they can do it for £50, which i think is quite excessive!

Hi, might be worth checking to see if there are any recall's for keys - had to have both of mine replaced as there was some kind of 'issue'. Thus i got two new keys from Audi c/w new batteries and re-coded for nothing as it was a factory recall. Apparently there was a VIn no. range for this but mine is a B7 55 plate. Worth a try asking at a dealership.

Thats funny... I got my B7 2nd hand 3 months ago... It came with 3 genuine fob keys but 1 didnt work... The key is cut right but the fob does not work even after being re-coded!

Are you sure it's not just "out of sync"? The rolling security codes can mis-match if the key isn't used regularly or when the keyfob battery is changed.
There are instructions in the manual that tell you how to re-sync the keyfob's security code with the ECU..

Hi..

Thanks.
