Hello,
I'm planning on getting a A4 avant (family car?), which engine, well do not know yet (any advice is welcome, knowing that car should do around 10000miles/year).
My question: which mod do you recommend? in which order? ECU remapping?
many thanks

I can highly recommend the 2.0TFSI petrol, i'm currently getting between 35mpg round town and managed 40.2mpg on the motorway yesterday at a constand 80ish, nice mix of economy and performance from it too. As for mileage, i wouldn't worry too much, mine has done just over 99k and it drives better than a 4k mile A4 courtesy car i was given when mine went in for a service in March.
Also, mine is for sale if you're interested?

At 10k miles per year it's not worth buying a diesel unless you particularly want a diesel. I really like my 2.0TFSi which is averaging around 30mpg (in the Skoda, but it is comparable).
If you are interested in ECU remapping then have a look at our site - http://www.sharkperformance.co.uk where you can see prices and power increases, we're also running 20% off in August.
Good luck with your search! :beerchug:

Hi vblanche,
I had the same problem with deciding what to get since I do around 10k and couldn't make up my mind between the 2.7tdi or the 2.0TFSI. I thought the 2.7 was quiet but didn't have the getup and go of the 2.0TFSI. They were also a bit pricey.
I get around 29mpg but have the multi-tronic box. I've got the paddles on this and I have to say that I wouldn't want to be without them.
Remember the 2.0TFSI likes the higher octane fuel - I notice quite a difference in the torque between the grades.
Although it's a turbo, the way it all works you don't get the kick in the same way as others when they come onto boost. Its all very linear.
Happy hunting!

If your after an A4 Avant (B7) I would recommend A4 2.0TFSI Sline Special Edition or if doing alot of miles the 2.0tdi 170 version - Great Value for money

If your after an A4 Avant (B7) I would recommend A4 2.0TFSI Sline Special Edition what are the differences between a Sline and Sline Special edition? SE= special edition?
What are the benefits of Sline over SE apart from exterior aspect?
thanks

Be careful with specification names here.. SE spec is not short for Special Edition. The S-Line Special Edition came with 220PS over the normal 200PS and different alloys, amongst other things.

There are two versions of the Special Edition S-Line:
v1: 18" 15 spoke DTM alloys, black headlining, S-Line MFSW, Punched air leather gear knob, S-Line embossed Volterra two-tone leather seats, black exhaust tailpipes. Engines were uprated to 220ps on the 2.0T FSI and 170ps on the 2.0TDI
Example of this model is in my profile.
v2: Released later on same as v1 but with 18" RS4 alloys, black optic pack (black grille frame, black window strips, black roof rails on Avant). Alcantara gear knob and alcantara MFSW and RS4 pedals I think.
All S-Line 'trim' have sports seats, lower suspension and bodykit as standard. The SE 'trim' has cruise control and DIS as standard.
