A3 1997 1.6 Sport Power Loss

Hi folks, I have an Audi A3 1.6Sport 1997 'R' plate....just started to experience sever power loss issues...car judders and steering shakes like hell unless im driving at high revs...car stops juddering from 1st gear when i hit approximately 13/14 mph. 2nd gear i have to take to at least 24 mph, 3rd from 27 onwards and can only drop to 4th if im doing approximately 35mph...hardly any power being transmitted when i put foot down on accelerator....does anyone know what this may be?

A fault code read with vagcom should show what faults you have.

have had it run on a diagnostics machine which shows nothing
