Hi, I am trying to connect my mp3 player through the CD changer input of the stereo, the stereo input part is easy enough through the CD left and right input and CD ground which takes care of the audio side of things (CD-L, CD-R & S-GND), However how do I get the head unit to see that there is a CD changer attached ( or in this case not connected ) but at least so I select the input through the head unit so the sound can come through from the input. What I have to do is get the head unit to recognise the CD changer input even though there is not one connected, every time I press the CD button twice now if there is no disc in the single disc slot it just says no disc, when there is a CD changer attached by pressing this button twice it should select the changer input, is there a pin I need to connect to another pin perhaps that would mimic if the changer was connected.
Here is a photo of my diagram of the head unit.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

what box you added to make mp3 input? seeing the ground does the switching so i'd check that first, did you have a changer in the car to start with or you just adding to compatible head unit?

thanks for the reply, No i didn’t have the cd changer there otherwise i could have probably worked it out, i haven’t added a box either all ive done is got the audio inputs ready to go in. when i can select the cd changer input it will allow the audio signal to go through the head unit, i just need to know how it detects it when it is connected, there must be some pins that when they are connected together or lined up will mimic as if the changer was there.

I am looking to achieve the same thing. I am aware that there is a connects 2 box available on ebay for £24, but suspect that the same can be achieved be connecting your inputs to the right pins. I was looking at the Telephone inputs on the back of the stereo. Is that the same terminals you were investigating?

i just bought the connects 2 box in the end. it works a treat and worth the money if you are using the input a lot. I think you have to have this box for it to trick it into thinking there is a changer connected.

I have given in and bought the connects 2 box also, and plugged it into the top socket on the back on my concert head unit, but it doesn't seem to recognise that I have plugged anything in. Do I need to change a setting on the head unit, or have I missed something obvious? I pressed the CD button, and tried holding it, but it had no effect.

Hi,
All you Audi A4 B7 with Concert 2 stereo's! :-) I have the answer to switching to CD changer on your stereo if you haven't yet worked it out for yourself.
As I needed this for my 56 plate A4 with the Concert 2 stereo for the AUX in adapter for my iPhone and iPod: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/MP3-iPod-DVD-AUX-ADAPTOR-AUDI-A4-upto-2005-CTVADX001-/260692276392?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3cb27874a8
All you need to do is hold down the 'CD' button before turning on the stereo :biglaugh:
Hope this helps a few frustrated people as I know it made me happy once I worked it out! :D

Hi Robin,
I'm having the same problem. I have the Connect 2 adaptor, CT29AU04, and it fits into the rear of the head unit (Concert 2) fine, but I can't get the head unit to select this channel. I've tried pushing the CD button, holding the CD button, switching the unit on with the CD button already depressed... but all with no luck. Did you find a solution in the end? Or does someone else know? Does the head unit need reprogramming perhaps to seek this channel?
Any info gratefully received.

There are 2 different boxes you can buy from connects 2. I had originally bought one designed for connecting a sony cd changer to the head unit. It didnt allow me to connect an aux line in. I sold that box, and purchased the correct one, which the head unit recognises automatically and shows CDC on the screen when you press the CD button on the head unit twice. Good luck in getting yours working.

OK, cheers. I've now been on to Connect 2 themselves, who say that the head unit has to be programmed by Audi to accept an AUX IN like this. It's a bit confusing as some people obviously just connect up and off they go, but me not! You don't recall which adaptor you finally bought from Connect 2, do you?

Should just need to press the CD button twice?

Tried that one. No luck. I've now spoken to a chap at Connect 2 and he confirms that the head unit does need to be programmed to accept the connection. On some Audis this will already have been done, apparently, and others not. The tech guy at the local Audi dealership seemed to know nothing about any of this. Anyway, this link seems to go into it http://forums.fourtitude.com/showthread.php?5470035-Audi-Concert-2-Aux-adapter-install-tutorial&p=76895446 so I'm buying one of these cables and will give it a go. Cheers. Dev
