"coming out at tad under 27k, which dealers cannot get near."

Perhaps more correctly the dealer you've approached can't get near.

The reason I say this is becuase these brokers use dealers to supply the car. My dealer had the correct attitude of "if they can supply for that then I should be able to do it cheaper".

What's the percentage you've got? Most dealers are running with around 14% margin so you should be able to get 10-12%.

Its round the 13.5%.

Chatted to 3 dealers and they are looking around the 9-10%

I might give it a few months and try again when the dark nights are here.

Be careful with some of the websites. You'll get discount on the car but not the options and then there's fees. It can eat into the margin. It makes no sense for anyone to be able to sell cheaper than a UK franchise. It's simply whether they will or not.

If you're getting a genuine 13.5% then grab it.

Madness if a dealer supplies a vehicle for over 12% it is costing them money. Also I if you are ordering that vehicle from the factory you better do so by the 29th July or you will not be getting the Executive pack

Bear in mind also that the VAT rate goes back up to 17.5% at the end of he year, which equates to about £600 on a £25000 base price car.

I have just ordered my SLine from a dealer. I was able to get 12.5% discount plus £2000 for my old banger via the goverment scrappage scheme. The final price was within £200 of the internet quote.
So as others on this site have recommended shop around.

Good Luck

when i chose my car i wanted a high capacity diesel - i like the relaxed torque/power delivery they offer - fast without feeling like you are trying too hard

the natural choice would have been the 3.0 its a superb engine - however the lack of multitronic box with this engine led me to choose the 2.7 - the gearbox was that good in my opinion that it more than made up for the lack of extra oomph offered by the 3.0 - it suits my driving style perfectly, given how good the 3.0 is thats high praise in deed( it even made up for the lack of quattro for me )

i would easily rate the current generation of multi's the best gear box i've driven by far - the DSG is second but quite a way behind

i found the manual box coupled with the narrow normal rev range of a diesel unusable for me - changing gear every 20yds around town is not for me especially with the rather notchy box i had on the loan B8 audi gave me , i racked up 5000 in it and by the end hated that gear box

i really hope audi can one day couple the multi with quattro - i'll be first in the que , and if they can up the torque limit to handle the 3.0 i'll be in heaven.....

one day maybe :D

anyway point is if you like autos can't see how you wont love the multi

Thats great and lots of useful points.

I have had a drive of the 2.7 although in an A5 and it was some time ago and from memory I liked alot.

The 2.7 for me though does sit a little outside my budget, although affordable.

2.0lt it is with the addition of a Bluefin in a few '000 miles which will add a further 35ish BHP.

I am away for 10 days from this afternoon and am unable to place the order until my return.

Hopefully the exec pack will still be available in August.

Many thanks again for your comments

Our new avant was brokered through http://www.drivenleasing.com/ but supplied by Carlisle Audi.

If you speak to them, ask for Mark Diskin and tell him I passed you onto him.

We've no problems at all, only praise :)
