Audi A3 1.8T 1999. The cooling fans (both of them) run constantly, even from cold. Is the sensor for these fans (bottom nearside corner of radiator) used also by the engine management system to gauge engine coolant temperature?
If so, could this account for the slightly uneven running that is worst when cold? The coolant temperature gauge never gets any higher than a point on the gauge that would equate to about 70 degrees C.
Brooky.

Not sure about the sensors, but from cold no fans should start up. Then if you swith the aircon on one fan should start up. Then when the engine gets hot both fans are used.
