The compressor on my car is dead so the a/c doesnt work. VW quoted £1400 for replacement which seems rather expensive!

ECP are approx £400 for a compressor, and someone on ebay is selling them for £230 (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AIR-CONDITIONING-COMPRESSOR-AUDI-A4-B5-A6-C5-VW-PASSAT_W0QQitemZ230357535107QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item35a2610983&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A2%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1683%7C 293%3A1%7C294%3A50)

Has anybody tried buying a compressor off of ebay? Was it ok?

If I buy the compressor, approx how many hours of labour will a garage charge me to do the replacement?

Cheers,

looking at 70-90 mins so u looking a 2 hours labour at about £35-55 pound depending where u take it 2
Then new belt plus regass
