For about three weeks my 1998 Passat ABS and brake warning lights have been coming on (three beep audible warning) staying on for a few minutes then switching off again. This normally happens after using the brakes a lot while driving in slow traffic etc. Thing is it is still intermittant, i.e not continuous. Took it to a dealership for analysis, they say the error is "Electrical Connection between ABS and Instrument Cluster" and the car will need "stripping down to investigate the bad connection". Well that sounds like a lot of workshop time = a lot of money :zx11:
Can anyone help out with the real cause of this??
thanks in advance

I had this on my seat and it was a wire what had worn though on my abs sensor
The only thing i can sugges that won't take a lot of cash is to take ya wheels of and inspect the wires leading to the abs sensors other than that it going have to be a full strip down to check :(

Thanks Gt tdi, checked them out, nothing wrong there - answer was the bosch abs ecu, took it to ECU http://www.ecutesting.com/ service was great and they fixed the fault for a lot less than dealership would charge to change entire abs unit and bleed brakes etc - no surprises there! Re-fitted this moning, no problems!
