Petrol and diesel pro and cons are quite obvious, but consider this to you really want to be in your lovely new convertible, sunny day, top down and all you can hear is that ugly diesel sound??? think about it ??
i think car manufactures have to start looking at (dear i say it) BMW diesel technology in there new models before petrol heads are convinced, the new BMW diesels are way advanced.

Cheers for the reply, point taken on the petrol / diesel issue. So out of the petrols would you recommend 18T, 2.4 or 3.0 and why.

hmmm Personal choice would be the 1.8T which comes in two versions 163bhp and 190bhp (although im not sure if the 190 is available on the convertible some one might clear that up)
i searched for and bought the 190 and its very quick, impossible to complain about its acceleration and pull through the gears. MPG is also decent if easy on the pedal.
i would love to drive the 3.0 and compare the two but i assume the 3.0 would be better on the motorway accelerating from 70-110 than the 1.8T and that would be the only major diff also the 3.0 mpg would be less than the 1.8T.
i think i read here that the 2.4 seemed slightly underpowered not 100% though other members with the 3.0 and 2.4 engines may be able to give you a better insight.
hope this helps a lil mate
