Hi

I am a newbie poster, but have been very interested in following the A4 B8 threads prior to ordering my A4 Avant 2.0 TFSI Quattro S-Line Exec which is due on 1 September. Thought it was time for some input!

I thought I would pass on a word of advice to those thinking of which options to add to their standard spec. The Government have recently published their proposals to swtich off FM radio in 2015. Of course this may or may not happen, but in my view this makes a DAB radio vital particularly if you want to keep the car beyond this period or indeed try to sell it in the future. It is on my list of extras.

Would be interested to know how those with DAB find the reception. Is it consistent whilst you drive? Surely it improves the normal miserable AM reception which I get in my current Golf GTI Edition 30.

Whilst a DAB fan at home, I have noticed in the press that the car manufacturers are less than happy at the proposed forced introduction and have pointed out that other countries have postponed mandatory digital radio use.

Suspect this story has a long way to go yet.....and there will a ready market for aftermarket solutions if it does come.

I live in rural North Yorkshire and have only had one problem with DAB reception. That was on really hot days we had over the last few weeks when reception was poor on non existent. This was only at midday and early afternoon and temperature over 28 degrees.Other than that brilliant.Great to have a clear signal on 5 live and all the other stations give you far more choice. Get it you will not be disappointed

I think the main issue at the moment is a lack of compatibility between different countries DAB implementation. At the moment a DAB radio built for the UK wont work in France, for example.
