If it is the same as my Seat, then "YES" ECON turns the system off, AUTO does what it say's, keep the temp to the value set.

It works by magic...

Seriously though, yes, 'Econ' turns AC off, but the system will try and maintain the temp without it, so if it is cold it will warm the air, but if outside temp is 22 and you want it 18 it won't chill the air.

'Auto' will attempt to maintain the temperature you have set by automatically adjusting the fan speed, a/c, and vent controls.

Pressing and holding 'Auto' on either side will temporarily lock the opposite side to the side which you pressed Auto on and when you adjust the temp they will change in synch (in effect making it single zone climate control) until you select a different temperature on the oppostite side again...

Pressing the circular arrow will recirculate the air (if you are in a tunnel) and some have an 'auto recirculate' that monitors the quality of the air and does this automatically although I haven't see a UK model with this option. Not even sure if it was available in the UK!

Other than that, the up pointing arrow points the air at the windscreen, the down at your feet and the other one (which is a depiction of a vent) is for the dashboard mounted vents.

Then you have a button that looks like the windscreen, this is to demist it in the winter, and you have another one for the rear demister which also switches the mirror demisters on.

I hope that makes sense! Best to play around with it!

Dunno, but if you have a diesel engine car, there is a ceramic 1kw heater so you can have some heat from ignition on in the winter. To use the heater you have to turn the temp up to "Hi". The air isn't as warm as the engine gets it but it should be enough to de-ice your windscreen.

A 1000watt heater

Surely that would drain the battery?

Naah! :Blush2: You've got a 140amp or 150amp alternator to take care of that when the engines running. You cannot switch it on without the engine.
