I have a loudish clicking noise coming from the front drivers side wheel area, Could this be a drive shaft/ CV joint issue?

Maybe its the $hit engine?! :)
Have you had a look to see if there is anything obvious making the noise? Can you pinpoint which side it is coming from? Does it occur when you are driving in a straight line or when you are cornering?
My experience of CV joints is that they only really make a noise when you have a fair bit of steering lock on and the sound is more of a grinding / crunching sound depending on how ****** they are.
Have a look at the CV boots...
Hope you get it sorted. Post back here when you with details...

Ive looked for anything obvious that could be the cause. The CV boots look ok. It only does it when on lock even if its on slight lock. Now I have had a CV joint go on a B5 before and it is a deeper knocking noise.
Imagine you have a large stone stuck in the tyre tread thats the kind of noise.
I'm going to do a litttle stripping down over the weekend to see if that shows anything.

Ok had both front wheels off, had a good rummage around.... NOTHING :zx11:
Even with both wheels on full lock I checked for any play.... NOTHING :zx11:
Only thing I found is the clicking seems to have died down a little since my rummage.
I am quite handy with the spanners and usually do all my own servicing and repairs but this one has thrown me. My mate owns a VW/Audi/BMW indy garage so i will pop and see him this week.

How's the clicking, Red?
Not had chance to get it to the garage yet, Im still driving it infact did 430 miles on saturday.. Its not got any worse and nothing has fallen off!!
You havent got something in the tyre have you?
can you get the wheel up on the jack and trun the wheel by hand to see if anything is fouling ie cirflex off the driveshaft. etc etc
i had a sqeak from the front of mine.......;it turned out to be a slight gouge out of the inside tyrewall, once i changed the tyre all ok.
But it drove me mad finding out it was.
