Hi, can anyone tell me of a supplier of good set of discs and pads for my 2002 passat 130 tdi, as the last set were a waste of money as they did not last very long, the discs went all shiney which resulted in poor brakes, got them skimmed mean time but i want to get a good quality set ready to put on,

It all comes down to money mate
u could go the grooved and drilled brake discs with red stuff or green stuff pads
or u could go fo genuine vw

I went for ATE disks from http://www.eurocarparts.com/
as they are a real OE supplier and the new disks have anti-corrosion coating on them like the genuine VW ones.

I got EBC Ultimax pads from http://www.buypartsby.co.uk/ and have found them to be very good and they were very cheap too.

I need to change my pads as the current ones move about and make a knocking noise each time apply the brakes. I was gong to buy ATE, was there a reason you chose EBC over ATE pads.

The ATE ones are expensive, that was all.
The EBC Ultimax backs were £9.80 and the front £21.33.
These are original equivalent replacement, nothing fancy.
I am more pleased with them than the Mintex that I have always had before on this and all my cars.

I also replaced the rubber brake hoses at the front, these looked fine, but must have ballooned when braking, because the brake feel is MUCH better . These were about £10 a side.

I changed the front discs and pads on my 2001 TDI Sport a couple of months ago with Brembo vented discs and pagid pads (both OEM spec) for £100. Braking is now back up to nearly as-new standard - will be perfect when I replace the hoses. I can thoroughly recommend this combo:-) - all supplied by GSF in Reading
