bought a 2003 a4 avant qs

very pleased with it...except....when i play one of my louder cds on full blast for a while (20mins or so), the stereo turns itself down for about 30 secs!

unbelievable! its like my mum shouting at me 30 years ago to turn my skids records down!

its a chorus stereo...there's a tape and a six cd changer.

any thoughts?

its a tad annoying.

apart from that, am loving the audi...just passed 100k....

all advice appreciated

I would think that the headunit is overheating and reducing the volume will allow it to cool down. Do you get the problem at all when listening at a more reasonable level? There is not much you can do without upgrading the headunit - then you'll have to be careful you don't blow the speakers!

Hi,

It does this as protection, mine does it also when you play something @ volume 30 for a longer period of time..
