You dont need to theres a lever by the side of the reflector inside the headlamp ,
just take the dip bulb cover off and you will see it next to the back of the reflector it just moves then the lamp become LHD or vise versa.

I think this is only on the xenon units is it not?

No mate i had mine out yesterday and mine are not factory xenon ,
and the lever is in there as i pulled it down and watched the cut off plate flick over to the exact same cut off but the other way for continental use
so its all good no need to purchase lights you have the function to change.

Thank you all, just to make sure, my RHD headunits are broken, can I replace them with LHD headlamp units? Would there be any differences of fitting parts? Thanks

I have just checked and the RHD and LHD headlight units both have different part numbers.
Im sure this could be done on the xenon units but not all halogen units.
Please can someone post a picture of this leaver??
I will check mine tommrrow as im 100% sure you cant done this on mine...
Im happy for someone to prove me wrong! :biglaugh:

I would but ive only just put my headlamps back in re aligned them and tidied up the after market HIDs,
but mine 100% have a lever which flips the cut off shield in the lamp and its on the left hand side of the projector light reflector bowl ,
im 100% because i moved it down switched it back on and the beam cut off was the other way for continental use,
unless its only on the early cars and like with heated mirrors its now an optional extra or just plainly dropped as it probaby costs an extra £1 to make them do it :(

Anyone else because i would love to know if its just the early cars or all the cars have a lever for the continent,
if its all of them there is no issue.
cant you take your headlamp out and have a look ?

Useful tip if ever on the continent - although would need to remove lights and switch over but better than those sticky things you slap on the front!
Never noticed this before inside the headlight - had them out several times for HID mods.
The little sprung lever is to the left of the dipped refelctor, Up=RHD, Down=LHD.

There was a thread on here about these levers a year or so ago. Basically some Audis were fitted with them but they were discontinued (the poster was trying to get a replacement unit from Audi with the lever but they were no longer available).
So, take a look. If your car has them then good for you. But don't rely on it until you have checked.
