View Full Version : Odd noise when engine switched off

Evening all,

I'm hoping someone can help / reassure me.

I have a 2.0 petrol 04 Passat, and when I switch the engine off I get a kind of hissing noise.

I've only noticed it recently, but just seems very odd.

Doing reasonable high mileage at the minute, upto 4K a month if that makes any difference.

Any ideas what it could be?

Also, when you check the oil, I presume the oil is supposed to be between the bottom and top of the 'spiral' part of the dipstick?

I've never owned a car with a handbook which is so unhelpful, lol.

Thanks in advance.

Deeg.

Are you sure you are not hearing the A/C hissing as the pressure equilises. Turn off ( econ mode ) for 5 mins before you stop the car and see if the noise has dissapeared. Regards Peter
