alhambra starting problems

hi, my 98 1.9 tdi SA wont start, the dash lights up and the electrics work ok, but when i turn the key i get nothing, im fairly sure the fuel pump isnt kicking in when the key is first turned.....i'm thinking immobiliser problem, has anyone any ideas ???

do you mean it doesnt turn over or it wont fire up but turns over ?
