Hi there all!

I have a 1993 Audi Coupe 2.3 (which has already been lowered) and one of my suspension springs has snapped off near the top. Its still in place but is now about an inch or two shorter and can be heard when you turn the car at low speed.

Basically all I need is to get hold of a replacement, but after having a look round a few web sites, I still can't find exactly what I'm looking for. All the sites seem to list their springs for sale as something like this :

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Audi 80/90/Coupe Quattro 2.0/2.2/2.3/2.6/2.8/S2 excl Avant 09/84-11/94 Jamex 35mm Lowering Springs

Vehicle Model Type : 89Q, B2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which would seem like the right choice, as it list Coupe, 2.3 but the model no. is wrong B2. Or...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AUDI 80 4, 5 Cyl Saloon And Diesel TYB4 - 80 4, 5 cyl Saloon and Diesel TYB4

Lowers: 35mm

Years: 9/91 > 96

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Which again seems ok until the model no. - Type B4

I was under the impression that the model no. for my car was B3.

If anyone has any ideas as to where I can find a set of lowering springs (around 35mm drop) for my car, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks

Kieron

if your car is 1993, then its a b4 model, identified by the grill being part of the bonnet, and the fuel tank being under the boot rather than behind the back seats.

Ahh thanks a lot, that solves that then. The moral of this story......Don't trust everything you read at wikipedia.com :)

Hi

For what it's worth the type 89 (B3) and B4 coupes pretty much share the same suspension. Only real difference I know of is that the bolts which connect the strut to the wheel bearing housing were upgraded to 14mm on the b4 - presumably for the extra weight of the v6 engines? but fitted across the range.
Audi have a number of different spring rates for each engine type. The aftermarket tends to be less fussy, with typically springs marketed as eg 40mm drop but fits 80/90 models which is 4 and 5 cyl engines.
