Hi there, some one could have left a hub nut loose, or 9 times out of 10 your wheel bearings are gna have play in them, these are really common on mk4s, first check ur hub nut for tightness 32mm 12 sided socket is needed or jack the car up put the car in gear get some one to spin the front wheels up put the clutch down and feel the strut to see if the wheel bearing is rough in rotation, or b lazy and go a garage, this is dangerous thou so best getin it sorted

thanks geez,

it all started when i put my 19" alloys on there, proberley the weight of them.

could it have any think to do with the lower arms

and how much would it cost for parts if it was the bearings

thanks again

I'd say it would be the lower arm bushes or in particular the flat lower arm bush.

Either a new set of arms with pre-installed standard bushes or a good garage will be able to press in a set of Audi TT or Lean Cupra bushes which are not voided like the standard Golf ones.
