Hi can someone tell me the location of the preheaters (glowplugs)?on a 2006 20tdi they are not obvious, also the MIL light is illuminated with the warning emissions fault Garage. I can reset this fault code but returns when started from cold again. :1zhelp:

Remove engine cover, remove cylinderhead/cam cover. You will see wiring loom and glow plugs. If the MIL light is on it won't stay off until the fault is corrected. Just turning off the light won't work. As soon as you start the engine the MIL light will come on again as long as the fault is still present.

I measured the glow plugs all ok? Fault codes are P2100 & P3102 i've also realised the fans are not opperating (Temperature rises when stationary plus aircon u/s) the faults are mounting up although the car drives fine.

Do you have those in VAG codes?

They are both codes for inlet manifold flap motor. i.e Throttle body. Crasher will tell you what to do.

I think your "p" code really means this "Motor for Intake Manifold Flap (V157): No Signal " when it's a diesel. This wouldn't affect the cars running. It might make it "shudder" more when you switch off as it is intended to cut off air and reduce the shudder effect.

Thanks again Martin i'll let you know how i get on.

Hi. I've had the codes read at my local autoelectrician he confirmed the fault code was the flap module, on examination it was full of oil and seized in the open position, after cleaning in the parafin bath it was obvious that the toothed cam was missing a tooth causing the motor to lock up. We changed the module at great expense expecting the fault to reset, guess what? the fault still there!! The autoelectrician(who is a friend) suspects a wiring short. Any ideas this is really bugging me?:aargh4:

Did he clear the codes. The light won't reset on it's own. You have to have the codes cleared first.

Hi

Dont have the code off hand but will find out from the workshop.
I was present when read and it indicated inlet flap and no signal.
They say i have to replace the module and i just want to be certain before replacing.
I have replace 4 injectors in the past and just tired of spending on the car and looking to get rid of it.

These are the codes that are coming up.

19558 - P3102 - 006
Intake Flap Motor - V157
No signal

From that code I would say the flap is faulty or it is a wiring issue.

Will get it off and try clean it out, what we noticed is when you pull the wiring plug off the indicator on the dash goes off.
