I have got a hold of a new dash alu set. All parts went easy to pry off, except from the one around the gearstick. Any idea how to remove this one?

Remove first the gearstick boot, and pull the gear selector cover upwards out of the centre console.

I'm trying to run i USB and AUX cable from my Pioneer radio and down to the arm rest. How do you remove the interior to get to the mid console/ armrest of a B6? I've gotten the cover off around the radio with no probs and unscrewed and removed the radio. Here it stops.

Mmm nice job you've taken on...there's a quite a bit to do.

Do you have the push button Climatronic - there are two versions but removal of the controls and unit is similar.

If so the removal list is as follows for the entire console which is one piece (organize nuts and bolts and make sure you know where they go when re-installing):

Move seats back or forward for access as necessary.

1. Remove front footwell trims (sides of console).
2. Remove gear stick / gator (unclip surround).
3. Remove Climatronic panel surround, unbolt unit, withdraw and disconnect wiring.
4. Remove Ashtray / Lower Storage tray.
5. Remove rear console trim - bolted either behind the AC/DC 12v socket panel if present and/or behind rear ashtray / rear storage tray.
6. Undo securing nuts at base of console (rear).
7. Undo bolts top right and left of Climatronic aperture.
8. Remove caps on both sides of armrest and unbolt.
9. Remove bolts at centre of console left and right visible once footwell trims are removed.

Finally lift console from the rear carefully upwards and disconnect wiring underneath (usually cars with AUX in socket).
Continue lifting whilst disengaging console from front centering elements in dash.

If you have the "Climatic" heating controls:

3. Set Heater to Cold, Blower to 0, Vent direction to Footwell. Remove surrounding trim, unscrew 6 retaining screws (note there are TWO sizes), release connectors - see below:

18675

Release connector catch -A- by pulling it in direction of arrow -1-.
Push connector catch -B- towards connector -arrow 2- and remove connector -C-.
Release connector catch -D- and remove connector -D-.

It will be difficult to route your new cabling with the console in situ but perhaps others have already done something similar?

Hope this helps and good luck!
