I've got a Golf MkIV with remote central locking, electric windows, sunroof and scorpian alarm.
The electrical fault is as follows:
Every time I unlock the car by key it blows fuse 14 (10A minature automotive).
With the fuse blown I have the following situation: I can lock the car but it doesn't deadlock. I can only operate the windows and sunroof with the engine running, all doors shut and the sunvisor mirror shutter closed. On the dash I have the tailgate open indicator on.
The tailgate electrics have been checked and are OK. I have isolated this and all of the interior lighting circuits to see if they were blowing the fuse and they don't. I'm down to to either an individual door locking unit or the convenience system control unit. I don't want to pay for one and it is the other and so waste my money.
Does anyone know anything to help me confirm what is causing the problem before buying the part.
