Hi,Ive noticed something hanging down under the car,It's located under the driverside rear door and looks like a small radiator/cooler.It's falling on one side not the other,I recently had the tandem pump,wiper cap and oil cooler bracket done on a recall.....any ideas on identifying this part thats hanging?

Probably the fuel cooler.

Fuel cooler. Mine managed to detach itself from the pipe overnight once and empied the entire tank of fuel down the gutter. The cooler wasn't loose, the pipe simply got detached. The AA reconnected it and said they couldn't inderstand how it could come undone as the clips are usually b*stards to undo. Must have simply not been fully clicked home in the factory and after a year it came off.

At least it came detached while stationary.....

I noticed this on my car yesterday, I was getting four wheel alignment done and when it was up on the ramp thing, I noticed this hanging down and knew from this forum it was the diesel cooler.

I have a feeling it happened when I went over a big speed bump the other day as I heard a clag of metal hitting it :p The car is just sitting in my garage now until I finish my uni exams so it's going to VW on Friday.

But does anyone know a quick fix for it?

Hi;

Excess Fuel return cooler, It happened to mine (Dec 2005) within 6 months of it being imported from UK, mild corrosion+ stress fracture on bracket (UK import), i simply made a Z bracket/piece which clamped it into the original screw hole as original design is poor. Is yours also an import ?
