hello all, i've got a t plate v5 bora but have seen newer ones quoted at 170 bhp whereas mine is quoted in the handbook as 150 bhp. does anyone know what the difference is between the two or am i getting it wrong? cheers:beerchug:

The newer v5 came with 170 bhp and more torque .As far as I know it came out in 2001 . Instead of the 10v head on the v5 150bhp the 170 has a 20v....

A better engine but not much in the difference in straight line performance! Ive driven the v5 170 in the golf and found the 1.8t a quicker drive but not as nice to listen to! ;)

The V5 is bullet proof though...

All Chrome V5 = 10 valves and 150PS, chrome and red V5 = 20 valves and 170PS. Odd engine but interesting, I never quite understood it though when they had the cracking 2.8V6 12v, very odd.
