if you want sound, cut your pipe off at the rear of the cat, use a chisel and drill or whatever to punch out the cat. once you clear the cat(turn the car over to clear the cat, do this over and over till its all out.) have a shop bend you a 6.35 cm exhaust, remove your muffler. the last bend at the tip should point towards the ground. with this set up you will have a blow off sound every time you shift, its a natural diesel sound. if you take out the cat its loud. if you leave the cat in, its not as loud. but the sound is nice not wimpy not a stupid sound, the gas powered vw's love the sound they want to know what kind of muffler it is! My tdi sounds like a bruiser, any questions let me know.http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb195/gunns112/DSCN0812.jpg

The cat is a FAT bit on the exhaust, usually only about a metre or less from the engine. The above system is essentially what I have - Mine's a big turbo, good remap - 2.5" downpipe, 2.25" pipe to an oval tail. Have a listen to this video - It's my little oil burner making the exhaust noise at the end. ;)

I see you have a Skoda Fabia VRS which i understand is a 1.9 Diesel.
Do you know anywhere i can buy Muffler tips? or anything that gives it a good mean noise?
I dont right fancy getting my chisel and bits out on my exhaust pipe unless i really have too.

The noise comes from reomving silencers. The cat and all other exhaust fittings like the backbox and middle silencer/s all act to muffle the noise. A straight through pipe is the only way you're going to get a noise even close to my video above.
I got mine done at a custom exhaust place and they only charged me £300 for the complete downpipe to tail 2.25" pipe, and the tarty oval tail. Most of the cost was labour for them to bend the exhaust to follow the oem path. It really is cheap.
"chiseling" bits out is the only way you can mod your exhaust for the better, and don't worry about MOTs either. ;)

Ah right, So im assuming it would pass the MOT too...
Well i dont have the knowlegde to do it my self so i will contact a garage and see if they will do it for me..
Thanks for the info though.
Oh, Before i go Does anyone know if i can get a K&N Air filter for my car its a polo TDI 2004 model
Removing the Silencers from my exhaust.. does it in any way affect the power/acceleraton?

Ah right, So I'm assuming it would pass the MOT too... POSSIBLY
Well i don't have the knowledge to do it my self so i will contact a garage and see if they will do it for me.. THEY MIGHT NOT PUNCH OUT THE CAT. BUT IF YOUR NOT GOING TO DO TOO MANY MODS HAVE THEM CUT IT AT THE REAR OF THE CAT THEN 2.5 TUBE BACK. IF YOU PUT A MUFFLER IT WONT SOUND GOOD. TRUST ME YOU WILL BE HAPPY. ;)
Thanks for the info though.

#1 rule for TDI exhausts - don't worry about back pressure. TDI turbos produce more than enough on their own so the best exhaust is one which is the most freeflowing possible. The most freeflowing possible is one with no fittings for the gases to whirl around in. Turbo, to downpipe (preferably big) to a decently wide enough pipe, out to the tail. Mine goes straight out rather than down, and I never get a sooty boot because the exhaust gases come FLYING out the back so fast. :D
PS: Mine's not a vRS, it's a pd100 TDI which has had a bit of work done to it. ;)

Oh, found my vid on youtube of my exhaust just on tickover. Sounds ok for a diesel, eh? Still a bit of background clatter, but the noise of the turbo comes right through out the back.

If you have a 90/110, the VNT17 turbo, as found on standard pd130/pd150 is a good turbo to bolt on. Straight swap to my knowledge. If you have a pd100/pd130, then there are some VERY nice turbos you can fit. ;)
Got an official 0-60 of 6.88. My best to date so far.
I'm kind of glad I'm way down here in Devon. :p And if you come here on holiday I think I might be walking the Yorkshire Moors that week. :D
