View Full Version : S line/S4 ground clearance
Are you guys having any ground clearance issues with your A4, especially for lowered S line and S4?
Thanks.

My S-line with sports suspension looks quite low underneath (as did my B6 S4 before) but I've never had any issues with either.

Thanks. I'm deciding between B8 and Q5 now, prefering the S4, but worried about the low looking suspension and extending lip in front might often hit inclines, kerb, bumps or even during B-Road driving(correct me if I'm wrong). Q5 offers a higher driving position and romoves all those concerns, but that's where the advantages end for me. Headache,:aargh4:

Q5 and S4.....I know what I would go for - S4 all the way. Q5 may be comoftable and have a lot of toys, but not much fun to drive!
no problem with ground clearence with my sline.
i go down a horrid track (almost a bridal path) weekly and never had any problems.

Hmmm going down a "bridal path" sounds interesting! Watch out for the divorce costs at the end of it!! Take my advice and stick to bridle paths
:beerchug:Bridle path and Bridal path are similar in some ways.. I agree S4 is so much more fun, and Q5 somehow looks a bit too calm and mild. I guess if I found no one is moaning that the low ground clearance is causing troubles, then S4 it is.

Part of my job takes me down farm tracks occasionally to look at farmland. I drive a Merc C class 320cdi at moment ( my new A4 3.00tdi is at dealers waiting for me to pick it up sometime) and managed to ground the Merc quite heavily last Saturday. No real damage done but it is higher in ride height than a S line so watch out! That is why I got the A4 in se trim to get the extra bit of height in the suspension

i am currently driving a B8 20TDI S-line with 19" alloys around london and go over all sorts of bumps and although i thought i would have a problem with touching especially the front, it actually is fine. this is why i own a B7 in SE which does give you a smoother ride over bumps in london but the s-line is much better than what i though it would be.
p.s reason for driving the B8 is my B7 has an aircon fault being sorted under warranty and was given this on loan by the audi dealer. pretty nice b8 actually black s-line with ALL the toys and has 142miles on the clock only!!!

Yes, the Allroad was just what I needed but did not know it was on way when I ordered! But at least I still have Quattro so will get stuck a lot less than with Merc! Will not drive a SUV as I like saloons and always have
Actually for me, I don't normally go down to the farm tracks, unless I get lost, neither bridle path. I mainly live in London and but sometimes get away to Wales and the North for weekend. So my main potential obstacles are road bumps, kerb when inserting the car forward into bay parking lots in London and winding B-Roads with sudden falls.
