Noisy wooshing noise

Hi Guys i have a Passat 2005 B6 2.0TDI 53'000 miles.

I have noticed recently that there is a lot of wooshing sound coming from behind the drivers wheel coming from the engine bay. I think it is one of the pumps on the side of the engine but i am not sure.

I have listened to a couple of passats that we have at work with the same engine and these do not seem as noisy.

I wondered if anyone else had experienced this and had done anything about it.

I have taken it into VW and they said they can't find anything wrong with it.:zx11:

Are you sure its not just the excess boost being released after your ease off the accelerator? my 55 plate 2.0TDI sport makes a whoosh noise if i accelerate hard then lift off to select another gear, if VW say its fine then id be happy with that if not get another opinion

No this noise is when the car is ticking over not even moving.

Sounds like a possible hose leak

Hi guys i took car in again to VW they said they have changed the alternator pulley and also lubricated the belt on the compressor as this was causing the problem.

Not bad considering i took it in the day before and they said nothing was wrong with it.
