View Full Version : B&O how much of an improvement over standard 10 speaker?

I've just ordered an S-Line Exec Avant and plumped for the B&O. Still thinking this might have been an extravagence......... So just wondering what experience anyone has of the B&O and how superior it is to the standard 10 speaker issue (which in my opinion on test drive sounded great). Thanks

Chalk and Cheese on the Sedan.
The B&O sounds crisp, with details you can't hear on the STD system.
The B&O is compsed at higher volume levels ...waaay above levels at which the std system loses control of the woofers and starts to waffle.
I hope you chose the B&O with AMI. Its a must.
The B&O sound system is one of the must-have upgrades on the car IMHO :)
The standard 10 speaker set-up is good and decently loud but isn't really refined and gets harsh and unbalanced at high volumes. The B&O system gives a much more consistent sound at all speeds and background noise levels and, if fed with a decent signal, is much clearer with a fuller sound stage (my god that sounded like total audiophile waffle but anyway).
Then again if all you are going to feed it are 128bit, badly ripped mp3s, you might not notice the difference :)
What I like about the B&O stuff is that it doesn't sound like you are listening to music (or whatever) in a car but from a good quality, well set-up audio system.
Now, the B&O won't satisfy you if you are trying to out-do the bloke in the 10 year old GTI with the spoilers and bassbins, it's not that powerful :)

Could not agreed more. First heard B&O in my colleagues A5 18 Months ago and compared it against my S3's BOSE. Its like B&O is Man Utd and BOSE is the Everton both good but one is so much better

You're getting another new car!? Do you change every 6 months then> I would get too attached to a car but I suppose it means you get to drive a variety.
B&O is impressive.
(On collection of my new A4) salesman commented that when he had switched A4 to one without B&O he really noticed the difference & missed the B&O.
I agree its a must have as the sound quality is excellent :)

Yeah. Change every 9 months. I have 7,500 miles on my S3 at the moment. The A4 I did not spec (Non quattro) but I want an A5 Sportback at the beginning of next year so I will not complain.

Dealer told me 5dr only for this. Showed me pictures Unofficial but said me saw it last year on a training course and if it looked like what he showed me I will be very happy.
Fingers cross because if you google A5 Sportback I am unsure. But he's been right on B8 and Facelift A3
