A4 cab '04 gearbox rattle

Hello guys,

I've got a nasty rattle / grinding sound like a bag of bolts is going around in my clutch / gearbox. The sound goes once the clutch is depressed, but as soon as the car is in motion or in gear, the loud noise comes back.

Good news is the car is driveable, but will need work pretty sharpish, any help please?

Sounds like the clutch release bearing is breaking up.

I'm a little worried about taking it to a garage and having my pants pulled down. Any idea what the best course of action is?

The box will have to come out to see what the problem is..
