Hi folks
I had my 2.0 TDI CR remapped a few weeks back but I haven't been able to get it dyno'd, if anyone knows of a dyno in Cheshire/Staffs that can run a new 2.0 TDI please do let me know.
I am impressed with the remap but I have had a few small issues? since... First the car seems to idle slightly rough, the rev counter is stable but I can feel the car shaking. I'm sure I couldn't feel this before the remap. Also when the car is started (always when the engine is cold), occasionally it makes a "beep" for a second, but no errors or lights are displayed. Finally I have noticed that the fan stays on a lot, like tonight it was a coldish night, the car was warmed up and I'd just driven a few miles down a 60 road in 5th, parked up and the fan stayed on for a while after getting out and locking the car. Could this be related to the remap and does anyone have any suggestions?
Many thanks
Scott

anyone? I have also experienced a slight knock a few times, but only for a few seconds, after switching the engine off after a good run. is this over run?

Hi Scott,
I've had a remap and I also experience a shake at idle, not all the time mind and it's not bad, I have also noticed the fan is on often, in-fact thinking about it I think it's on every time I turn the engine off. I had the remap after only having the car for a few weeks so I didn't really notice if any of these were normal. I haven't noticed any of the other issues you are experiencing, but I do have a petrol A4, it may be an idea to give P-Torque a bell to see what they think.
Hope you get it sorted

Hi mate, thanks for letting me know. I'm the same with the shake at idle, it's not bad and it doesn't always happen, but it's noticable to me. However, if I point it out to anyone else, they always say that they cannot feel it. As for the fan, do you drive you car quite hard usually? As in, accelerate to speed in lower gears and make full use of the power, rather than through the gears keeping a low rpm? I do - don't get me wrong, I don't red line everywhere, but I probably drive a little more enthusiastically than most, which will obviously create more heat in the engine.
I did point these 'features' out to P Torque and they said that they have 20+ other cars running the same map without any of these problems so it's a fault with the engine and needs to be investigated by Audi.
Btw, do you ever hear a random beep on starting the ignition? Usually when the engine is cold or it's early morning?
Regards
Scott

Yeah the shake is noticeable to me also, as are the bloody rattles coming from the rear somewhere :D But I can't see it being anything to worry about... hopefully. The way I drive depends on the traffic, but I like driving enthusiastically when I can, I do quite a bit of motorway driving (Leeds to Manchester and back) each day and like booting it to get back up to speed, but guaranteed the fan is on when I get back, even if I drive keeping the revs down it's also on.
I don't have the random beep either. Hmm you have a bit of a dilemma as you don't really want to take it to Audi and have them discover what's been done, perhaps you could ask P-Torque to put the car back to normal and see if your problems go away, that way you would know if it's the map or not. Did they give you a custom map or a generic?

I had rattles, even took it to Audi. It was the rear seats. I'd checked them over and over, but turns out that you really need to slam them back hard to get them to click into place and not rattle. Might be worth a try.
It is a dilemma. It's a generic map, I believe, which has been developed for the 2.0 TDI 140 CR with some small changes to suit the individual cars.

Its not really fair for me to coment on this.. See if your car is in need of an update at all from Audi... Sounds odd that they have done 20+ car's and 1 r 2 with a small prob like this...
If the car is in need of an update sure the guys who mapped it will update the new map !

I had my previous car remapped a Merc 280 cdi by superchips never a problem. however my fan stops on for a good 3-5 mins when the engine is turned off and my a4 3.0 tdi q has not been remapped. May have to get it done burned up by an Astra vxr :( caught up at the bends but on the straight well say no more never mind
