beep when starting car sometimes

Sometimes when I start my 09 A3, I hear a beep for a second or so. There are no errors messages, no warning lights, so I have no idea what it is. It stops after circa one sec. If I switch the engine off and try again, it won't happen again. What could this be?

Back up battery in the alarm is on its way out.
New alarm siren time.

this is a new 09 plate car though and it only happens sometimes.
