Handbrake Cable Tightening

How do I tighten the handbrake cable? Is it a case of removing the centre console and getting to it there?

Hi There is no adjustment on the cables.If the wires are slack,then they are on the verge of breaking (stretched) or there is something wrong with the self adjusting on the calipers

The hand brake is auto adjusting on the A4.

After 100k miles i replaced mine and it was back to 2 clicks again..

Thanks gents, mine is approaching 100k so it might be time to see about getting it replaced.

First check the position of the handbrake levers on the calipers,it only takes just the one caliper,to be malfunctioning,and you will have a poor handbrake.Don't forget the slides for the brake pads,if these are seized up,then the hand brake will not adjust.
