Best Price for New Passat

Hi all

I am planning to buy a new Passat 2.0 TDI (SE or Sport). Do you know if we can get some discounts from the dealers? If yes, how much?

For the manual SE saloon the on the road list price is £18,950 and the What Car target price is £17,637.

For the manual sport 140 saloon the on the road list price is £20,390 and the What Car target price is £18,787.

This is a saving of between £1300 and £1500.

What car claim that their target price is achievable and state that if you dealer won't match it then of you phone them up they will point you to a dealer who will.

Remember though this is before you add any options.

In January I ordered a tdi sport estate 170 DSG from Inchcape Bridgnorth via an internet portal (can't remember which one though), and got approx 2k off list, and I pick it up on Saturday (yey!!!)

:D After a lot of haggling & internet searches over 4-5 weeks I managed to get my local dealer down to £18,200 for 2.0 TDI 140 sport which included the option of heated seats,windscreen & washers. However this was just before the price increase on 1st Jan 2006.

The salesman did also say at one point "are you taking the p**s out of me"!!
