In the morning I reverse out of my drive (where the car has been overnight). The engines starts first time but after selecting Reverse the car does not move immediately (brake off, of course) even though I press the throttle.

Car moves back after a couple of seconds & then the same sort of delay when I select Drive to go forward.

After that, no problems for the rest of the day.

Anyone got ideas what might be causing it? I shall mention it to Audi when it has its service. I had the same engine in my A3 Sportswagon DSG but never experienced this problem.

That sounds like "Hold Assist" (or something like that).

Its supposed to make hill starts easier. has taken me some time to get used to - I just anticipate that slight delay before the car moves after brakes released and no real problems.

Am I right - is this what the feature is for? Anyone know a better way to handle it - or can you turn it off?

there is a software update for the multitronics meant to deal with hesitancy when moving off from standstill - its been mentioned in previous threads if you have time to search - this may be something worth looking into via your dealer if you've noticed a problem (but i think thats more for all day long hesitancy rather than just on 1st starting)

- my car also is also a bit sluggish pulling away on cold morning 1st starts if a pull away before letting the oil circulate for a bit

i think it may just be a characteristic of multitronics - oil needs to be circulating for a while before they work well - my old a6 multi was similar on cold starts
