Cant open boot - help

Have a 2000 Passat 1.8T and have a problem with the boot, it wont unlock so I can't open it and am having to access it through the back seat. Can anyone give me any suggestions how I can get open it from inside and see what needs mending/replacing.

If you can get the trim off you should be able to operate the lock from inside and open it. Have the key and fob refused to open it. If so the linkage may have come off or the lock is broken.
