Noisy engine on cold start up

Hi all i am new to this site.

I have a 2.0 SE Auto, recently i have notice that on cold start up my car sounds like a diesel for about 10 seconds. Can anyone help me with this?

It sounds to me as though the oil pick up is becoming blocked through the dreaded sludge problem. If the pipe does become restricted the oil wont pick up out of the sump properly and therefore wont deliver it quick enough to the top end.
When did you last change the oil/ and what oil are you using. :confused:

Mine makes a similar noise. Didnt think it was anything bad though. Now im scared.

If you get to it now its better than waiting for the worst bit. All you need to do is change the oil pick up pipe and maybe the oil pump , new oil and filter and all is well.

My Car has always been serviced by the main dealer.

The oil pickup pipe and oil pump sound scary and expensive. Any idea on howmuch this is going to cost me?:confused:

Find out what oil has been put in it as if it's too thick, it won't flow quickly. Dealers don't always get it right

A dealer will charge you about 400-500 all in. Thats oil pump filter, pipe labour etc. Any more and you need to look at an Indie.
