Media-In

I'm confused. I'm about to order a new PASSAT with RCD510 radion and want a good iPod inerface kit. I've searched this forum for info on iPod kits and found some (positve) references to the VW Media-In kit. However, I've been into three VW dealers and asked about iPod interfaces and only one mentioned the Media-In kit; they had almost zero details on it and couldn't answer any basic questions. I done a google site search on the VW UK site and only come up with one hit related to the Golf (with no technical details).

Can anybody provide links to informaion on this kit and has anybody got any idea why VW do not appear to be promoting it?:confused:

Also I have aux on my rns510 ( similar but with sat nav ) but I have never used it, I just copy my cd's to a sd card and you also get an on screen album and track listings.

Ok, so I've now discovered why I can only find one reference to the Media-In kit on the VW UK website - it's because it should be refered to as the MDI kit (do I hear cries of "we all knew that"!?:Blush2:).

So, with my new found discovery, I performed another google seach of VW UK site for MDI and waited in anticipation. The result? only a dozen hits and all related to the Golf and Sirroco - and no details (it's just shown in the options list). I may try another dealer today and see if I can get more info.
