Hello

Hoping someone can offer advice.

I have a very slight whining noise when I depress the clutch which apparantly indicates a worn/dry clutch release bearing.

The car is a '97 20v petrol turbo sports with 85,000 on the clock owned since new. These past 5 years the mileage is only about 4k/annum.

Do I let things bide (I will probably sell it on in next 6months) or do I get it replaced along with new clutch. Been quoted £295 inc but on reading posts am concerned that the DMF may need replacing and then am into big money. What are your thoughts?

Thanks in anticipation.

I'd wait until the clutch needs doing. Drove my last car for 30'000 miles with a noisey release bearing with no ill effect. If you were keeping it i'd say put up with the noise.

Looking at what 97 turbos are making be prepared to be offered around £500 tops in six months time for a VGC low mile 97 plate petrol sport turbo with a noisey CRB, where as if you spend £295 on a clutch then you might be lucky and get £1000 for it....

Personally, i'd keep it until it died!
