Bought a 1.9 tdi (see sig) about a month ago after shopping around for a good 3 months to find 'mr right'. Finally found the one walking distance from my house!

Have had pure driving pleasure ever since. Loved the smooth pull through the gears and no ger change felt. Happy days.

Then about 5 days ago I noticed something a bit concerning, especially after reading all the stories about multitronic on here before I bought mine. When coming up to a stop there was a very slight jolt as it moved into first gear. Only done it a couple of times.

Took it back to dealer's tech dept and took the main guy for a spin but typically it didn't do it!

Never hadany bleeps, warnings or lights, no struggling to hold steady revs at about 1800 rpm or anything.

They are changing the clutch under warranty and have vowed to sort the problem.

My question; when the work is all complete will it be perfectly normal, or is it one of those things that will keep cropping up all the while?

Sorry for the long message but I want to leave a log of events on here so that anyone with similar issues will be able to get straight to the end resul of the problem.

Still love the car though!

OK, update on the faulty multitronic box.

Just had a 7 plate clutch upgrade. All fitted under warranty by a garage in Mansfield.

This has totally cured the problems I was having. It is only now Its fixed I have realised some of the other problems...

When driving along at a constant speed, if I was to lift off the gas just gently and replace my foot, the revs would fluctuate up then down by about 500rpm.

No jolting etc anymore and hopefully problem solved.

The parts and labour came in at £977.

Hope no one else has any of these issues, if you do I'd suggest to the dealer that they perform this upgrade.

Cheers

Hi,

My a4 2.4 cabriolet (manual) does the same thing, if I put my foot on the clutch while lifting off the accelerator, the revs go up slightly and then reduce - no other car I have ever driven has done this. seems to be a lag between the electronic accelerator and the engine!!!
