Hi
I am a new owner of used Audi A4 Avant 1.9 tdi 2004 year. I was searching for anti theft alarm and immobilazer for my car, but I can not find any!The car does not make a horn sound when I lock him and I try to recode the adress 46 cent. conv. to add 1024 (to make a horn) to my code (06976-code of add. 46) without success! I make also a output test of same modul but there wasn't any option for alarm horn or test, only some locking and unlocking options. Then I was wandering about immobilazer and I couldn't find a sign on instrument cluster. I looked on owner's manual (which is in german- I do not understand a word!) and I recognized the symbol but on the plase of this symbol in my cluster is another symbol which I do not know what is it! I am sending a 2 pict of my cluster and I circled it.
Please help if somebody know what is the meaning of the symbol,is it a immobilazer?

Thanks for reply, do You know how I can check does my car have a immobilazer, because I can not see the symbol on cluster, I took these pictures during testing of instrument cluster. I have address 25 immobilazer on vag com and I enter but there is no measuring blocks and I am afraid to do the test.

it has an immobilizer as standard..

if you wanted to make sure and was daring!! (IF) take the battery and chip out of the key fob and try to start it...

I would not do it .. I would not of thought you have to recode the key after.. but i say that just in case!!

I know when i dropped my key when running, it shattered everywhere on the floor... and it still worked when i put it back together!!

Immobilisor symbol is in the rev counter, it should light up when the ignition is first switched on.

Yes on VW cars is like that ( I had Passat), but on Audi that symbol should be on the place where is this tire press warning lamp but as You saw it is not. I am sending a insert of audi quick reference guide concernig instrument cluster where You can see all the lamps.

Hi

Your immob it self is built into the dash it will not show
on the dash unless there is a fault in the immob, its a key
shaped symbol, but this will not light after making the ignition
live. it will only light if there is a fault,

I think you have the wrong coding for the central convenience unit. See http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/audiB6.html for more info but assuming your car is right hand drive and located in Great Britain then the coding should be 08139.

HI
My car is left hand drive and I bought it 1,5 months ago in Germany. I was trying to recode but without success,to deduct some code like 4096 module accept but to add 1024 does not accept. I start to think that the alarm is not fitted into my car :( Also I do not know which codes are incorporated into my code 06976, I guess that 4096 is but, is this code rapresent some kind of alarm?

You have:
4096 - Alarm
2048 - Door/ Window Logic
512 - Indicators flash once when locked via remote
256 - Avant bit
64 - Comfort function via remote control

You may also need 8 to activate the alarm system and of course 1024 which will make the coding 08008. Try it and if it doesn't work return to 06976. Try also 08010 which enables flash on when arming/unarming alarm system.

I have just come from testing. From my code 06976 I can deduct all codes that You write and I can code module with these result. I start with smallest code 06976-64=06912 and coded that, and so on, but when I try to add 8 he do not allow me and old code remain, neither he allow me to add 1024. What that mean? Do I have alarm or something is wrong?

Hi
I drive a MK5 golf, it was first registered in feb 2004.

When i lock my car with the remote, only my hazards flash and there is no horn noise - exatctly like yours is.

I had a cause to call out the VW assistance and asked him whilst he was here to see if he could eneble the horn on locking.

He couldn't

why?

Its not fitted.

The horn noise your alarm makes when you lock the car may be from a different unit than the horn you use when another road user cuts you up.

In my opinion, your car does not have it fitted.

I am starting to think the same, but I am wondering if the car has any alarm except immobilazer that I have discovered recently? I wondering why the code 4096 (which rapresents alarm) is incorporated into my code (06976) if the car does not have the alarm? Car has a LED on driver's door which is activated when the car is locked, usually that means that alarm is armed.

Stupid question...

have you tried setting the alarm off.

lock the car with you in it, then flap about like a mad man, see if it goes off.

try rocking the car.

I heard mine once, i locked the car with the windows down - it was a hot day. realised i needed something out the car so without thinking i reache in through the window. alarm went off.

it doesn't go off if hit by a football.

I tried that also, not acting like mad man but trying to open the door and nothing. I realy did not try to hit or rock the car but I will try also this. I already start to think to get some kind of protection for the car. Some interesting thing is on this site http://www.zeder.co.rs/pocetna.php?lng=sr&sb=
